Desde que su mujer murió quemada en un accidente de coche, el doctor Ledgard, eminente cirujano plástico, se interesa por la creación de una nueva piel con la que hubiera podido salvarla. Doce años después consigue cultivarla en su laboratorio, aprovechando los avances de la terapia celular. La historia está libremente inspirada en la novela "Tarántula" de Thierry Jonquet: Desde que su mujer murió quemada en un accidente de coche, el Dr.Ledgard, Marilia, la mujer que se ocupó de él desde el día que nació, es su cómplice más fiel, nunca le fallará. Y respecto a la cobaya humana… Al cabo del año desaparecen de sus casas decenas de jóvenes de ambos sexos, en muchos casos por voluntad propia.
